Statipstics - part ii

Correct Scores:
André and Paul both tipped the Correct Score in 8 of the 64 matches during the Tipster, while Alex achieved this in 7 matches. Four people tipped the Correct Score in 2 matches. For comparison, in 2020, one person tipped the Correct Score in 9 of the 51 matches.

Correct Margin:
Tino tipped the Correct Margin in 13 matches, almost a quarter of the total. Simon did not tip the Correct Margin at all, but he only tipped 19 of the 64 matches.

Correct Outcome:
Joe tipped in favour of the winning team in 23 matches, more than anybody else. Unfortunately, he only tipped the Correct Score twice and the Correct Margin three times, so it didn't earn him that many points.

Being Right:
André tipped the correct winner in 41 matches. Next best was Tino in 37 matches, with Craig and Paul level on 36 matches. Simon tipped the correct winner in 6 of his 19 matches; Rachel tipped correctly in 19 of her 38 matches.

Scorer:
The first Scorer was correctly tipped in 11 matches by Tino, and in 10 matches by Christian. Everybody managed to tip the correct first Scorer at least twice.

Time:
Paul guessed the closest Time in 10 matches, giving him 11% of his points total. In the 2020 Tipster, Paul was the least lucky, tipping the closest Time in just 1 match. Alex, Christian and Ralph all tipped the closest Time in 6 matches. Everybody tipped the closest Time at least once.
There were 9 matches in which somebody tipped the exact Time of the first goal; in 3 matches, 2 people achieved this. Christian tipped the exact Time in 3 matches.

Paul also tipped the worst closest Time, 48 minutes out in the Croatia - Brazil match, but it earned him the 3 points.
The least accurate Time tip came from Ben, who tipped the 120th minute in the Croatia - Morocco match, with the first goal actually coming in the 7th minute.

On average, Ralph's tips were the closest to the actual Time, just 21 minutes away from reality, and he tipped the closest Time in 6 matches. Next best was Franzi, 21.6 minutes out. Paul's average was 23.5, the same as Axel, yet Axel only tipped the closest Time twice, compared with ten times by Paul.
André was the least accurate on average, 30.1 minutes away from the actual Time. This is an improvement on his 2020 performance, when he was on average 31.5 minutes out.

Tipping:
In total, around 1150 tips were received (some people tipped twice for a few matches). 104 tips were missing: 45 from Simon and 26 from Rachel, which means the remaining 17 participants only missed 33 tips - and some of these were received, but were rejected because they came too late (Craig being the main culprit, as ever year ;-) )
There were just 2 matches where everybody tipped: Mexico - Poland and France - Australia. Excluding Simon, there were 23 matches were everybody tipped.
The least tipped games were Morocco - Croatia and Japan - Costa Rica, for both of which tips were missing from 4 people.

Nine people tipped 100% of the matches: well done to André, Axel, Ben, Christian, Joris, Paul, Robert, Soeren, Thorsten (and if you're name is not on this list but you think it should be, then it's most likely because you submitted your tip after the game had begun). This is the best return rate of any Tipster so far, surpassing the previous record (seven people) in the 2020 Tipster). :-)

Points per Tip:
Tino scored an average of 4.66 points per game that he tipped, but missed 3 matches (including Croatia - Canada). If Tino had tipped all 64 matches and had maintained his average points per game, he would have scored an additional 14 points.
Rachel tipped the fewest games after Simon, but gained an average of 3.71 points from the games which she did tip. If she'd maintained that rate for the full 64 matches, she would have finished 9 places higher in the League.

Comparisons:
Finally, the winner of the 2022 Tipster gained an average of 4.64 points per game.
Robert won the 2020 Tipster with 4.43 points per game (226 points from 51 matches), while Ozren won the 2018 Tipster with an average of 5.03 (300 points from 64 matches), and Ines won in 2016 with 4.8 points per game.
However, comparisons across tournaments are meaningless: Müller won the Golden Boot in 2014 with just 5 goals, whereas the same number would have only reached 3rd place this year. :-)
