Forecasts

Before the tournament began, we all made some forecasts. With the benefit of hindsight, we can now see how good (or bad) those were...

Semi Finalists:
15 people tipped Argentina to reach the Semi Finals, and 13 people tipped Brazil.
Nine people tipped Germany, while eight people tipped France and seven tipped Spain. There were 5 votes each for the English and the Dutch.
There was also one tip each for Cameroon, Denmark, Portugal, Uruguay and the USA, with 2 for Mexico, and 3 for Belgium.
Nobody tipped Croatia or Morocco.

Winner:
Six people tipped Brazil to win the World Cup.
Five tipped Argentina: well done Christian, Craig, Franzi, Joris and Paul.
Two people (Alex and André) tipped France.
Mexico, Spain, Poland, Germany and Belgium each received one vote.

Preferred Victor:
Eighteen people selected fourteen different countries as their preferred winner.
Belgium, Japan, Netherlands and England each received 2 votes.
Nobody voted for Argentina.

Surprise Package:
Fourteen countries were tipped to be surprisingly successful.
Denmark received 3 votes, while Japan and Ghana received 2 each. France received 1 vote.
Nobody tipped Morocco.

Crash and Burn:
Four people wanted to see France fail badly; maybe the Final gave them some satisfaction.
Four other people hoped that Portugal would flop.
Argentina, Brazil and the USA received 2 votes each.

Goldenballs:
Four people almost correctly tipped Lionel Messi to win the Golden Boot. Two people (Alex and Tino) did tip correctly that Mbappe would win it.
Benzema received 2 votes, despite not playing. Lukaku and Neymar also received 2 votes each. The one vote for Gareth Bale looks rather optimistic now.
