Game 1 Report: Qatar - Ecuador

Qatar became the first host nation to lose their opening game, suffering a 2-:0 defeat against Ecuador, with Enner Valencia scoring the first goal of the World Cup in the 16th minute.

Alex, Andre, Franzi, Paul, Ralph, Thorsten and Tino all tipped a 2:0 victory for Ecuador - congratulations, and 10 points, to each of them. Rachel correctly tipped a 2-goal victory and gains 7 points. Axel, Ben, Craig, Joris, Robert and Soeren tipped the correct winner for 5 points each. Only one person tipped a Qatari victory, and he shall remain nameless and pointless.
Valencia was correctly tipped as the first Scorer by Ben, Craig, Joe and Joris for 3 points each. The closest Time was tipped by Franzi, just 1 minute out, giving her 3 points.

Correct Scores: André and Paul both tipped the Correct Score in 8 of the 64 matches during the Tipster, while Alex achieved this in 7 matches. Four people tipped the Correct Score in 2 matches. For comparison, in 2020, one person tipped the Correct Score in 9 of the 51 matches. Correct Margin: Tino tipped the Correct Margin in 13 matches, almost a quarter of the total.
